Over the years, women’s fashion has saved an important spot in society. Starting from their wardrobe, make-up, and hairstyles, it has all become essential in the fashionistas’ kit.
In step with this change, technology has made a lot of advancement as well. Hair dryer and blow dryer both are results of this development.
Although their names suggest that they are the same thing, there are some differences, albeit very few. They are said to be the same device given different names in different countries.
Some of you might wonder what’s the difference between the hair dryer and blow dryer is.
So, I will walk you through their distinguishing features which give them their identity.
Hair Dryer
Hair dryers are particularly used to improve and style women’s hair. You can use them to dry your hair after you shower or use it to style your hair and bring out more volume in it.
They were first brought into the public eye in the 19th century at a French salon.
This device uses electricity to power its motor to run. The temperature can be changed according to your requirements because it is fitted with a motor that has coils around it to manage the temperature.
Blow Dryer
Blow dryers are not specifically designed to dry hair but rather they can be used for other parts of the body as well. It is fitted with a ceramic heater that gives out hot air.
They are also able to provide with cold air, depending on how you wish to use it.
While using a blow dryer you should be careful not to bring it too close to your scalp as it may damage the roots of your hair.
Also, remember not to towel dry your hair first if you’re about to use a blow dryer.
Blow Dryer Vs. Hair Dryer - Key Differences
Here we’ll discuss all the difference between the hair dryer and the blow dryer.
Origination Of Term
The fundamental difference between a hair dryer and a blow dryer is that the term ‘hair dryer’ comes from British English and the term ‘blow dryer’ comes from American English.
Therefore, they are often used as synonyms for the same device.
Design
A hair dryers design was such that, it was large enough to be the size of a person’s head.
Fortunately, the designs were remodeled, and different sizes can be found for your comfort. They are great for drying your hair when you’re in a hurry.
Use a comb or brush to get rid of tangles before you make the use of a blow dryer. Blow dryers are very popular because they help you in achieving great volume and a hairstyle that lasts for long hours.
Usage
Blow dryers are designed to be used for any of your body parts. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be used for your hair.
In fact, I personally know many people that use a blow dryer for their hair and I’ve never heard them complain.
However, if you want something specific for your hair, then I suggest that you go for a hair dryer. They are specifically designed to take care of your hair.
That being said, if you already have a blow dryer, I don’t see any reason for spending some extra bucks for a hair dryer.
Temperature
The temperatures of these two devices may vary. Blow dryers blow out air that is more concentrated and the temperature of the hair dryer is lesser than that of a blow dryer.
Hair dryers are always electric and use steam or air but the same is not true for blow dryers; they aren’t particularly electric devices.
For individuals looking for definitive explanations, it can be said that a dryer which is not electric can be called a blow dryer.
On the other hand, an electric dryer that is capable of producing hot air with the change in temperature is called a hair dryer.
All in all
Although the two devices have very similar abilities and can be used for the same things, the fact remains that there are some minor differences.
The hair dryer and blow dryer both are covered in a plastic shell that heats quickly. To dry your hair, buy a hair dryer and to style your hair and to add volume to it, get a blow dryer.
